Apartment blocks, stairwells and no lift

Kato Paphos is built vertically. Between the seafront hotels and Tombs of the Kings Avenue sit hundreds of three- and four-storey blocks from the 1980s and 1990s, most of them without a lift and many with a half-turn staircase that a two-seater sofa simply will not go round in one piece. We deal with that daily. Our team arrives knowing the building type, brings straps and blankets, protects the handrail and the door frames, and takes the awkward items apart on the landing when the geometry says so rather than forcing them and marking the plaster.

Balcony clear-outs are their own category here. Sun-destroyed rattan, rusted drying racks, cracked plastic chairs and a barbecue that has not been lit since 2019 — all of it comes out through the flat, so we lay down protection on the tiles before the first item moves. Universal, Tombs of the Kings and the beach road

Behind the tourist strip the character changes. Universal is dense apartment living with narrow service roads and residents' parking; Anavargos and Konia are a mix of older village houses and newer family homes with garages and a bit of land. In Universal the constraint is nearly always access — where to stop the van and how far we have to carry. In Anavargos and Konia it is volume: garages and storerooms that have quietly absorbed two decades of paint tins, bicycle frames, broken white goods and boxes nobody has opened since the move.

For those garage jobs we sort as we load rather than tipping everything into one pile. Reusable furniture is set aside for donation, metal and electronics go to the right recycling stream, and only what genuinely cannot be reused leaves for disposal at recycling points and municipal facilities. You get the space back and a swept floor at the end.

Parking, permits and the old-town lanes

Some of the lanes off Agiou Antoniou and around Kato Paphos' older core are barely wider than the van's mirrors, and a few have bollards or residents-only restrictions. We plan around this instead of turning up and hoping. Where we cannot bring the van to the door we park at the closest legal loading point and shuttle with trolleys — it costs a bit more carrying time, which is already in the written quote we sent you from the photo. Nothing changes at the door.

If your building has a management company or a gated underground car park, mention it in your first WhatsApp message. A two-minute heads-up about a barrier code or a height restriction saves an hour on the day.

Same-day collection is most realistic here

Because we are in and around Paphos town most mornings anyway, Kato Paphos is the area where a same-day slot is genuinely likely rather than a promise we hope to keep. Message before 11:00 and there is a good chance we can fit you in that afternoon. After that we will usually offer you the next morning.

Holiday-let owners and property managers rely on this. Guests leave behind broken suitcases, a collapsed sofa bed or a fridge that finally gave up, and the next booking arrives in 48 hours.
